If this is your first time seeing me, my name is Char and I'm a Mixed-Media Artist and Content Creator.
I’ve been thinking of starting a Substack for the past year now, and after all the overthinking, here I am!
Aside from making YouTube videos, I enjoy writing. As someone who still stumbles on her words when speaking, blogging helps me convey my thoughts better. Plus, I type 10x faster than I speak.
Blogging has been a huge part of my online presence since the early 2000s. If you’re a Millennial like me, you may remember Live Journal, Blogspot, Xanga, and Tumblr. Those were the four online journal platforms that I frequently used. I didn’t realize it until now, but it was truly the start of documenting my life and sharing it with others. Through these journaling platforms, I’ve met many online friends. Some I have met in real life and still keep in contact with. I miss those days of the internet when it wasn’t filled with algorithms and focusing on the numbers. Just pure and genuine connections.
With that said, I wanted to open up this space to connect with like-minded people!
Art journaling has been a constant in my life even through all the changes I’ve gone through over the past 1-2 decades of being an Artist. It has been a powerful tool that has helped me express myself freely, expand my creativity, and unlock the hidden gems within me.
Through Substack, I hope to encourage my readers/subscribers to open themselves up and have fun exploring the depths of their psyche through this amazing tool. You don’t have to be an Artist to get into art journaling. We are all creative in our unique way, and through art journaling, you can discover so much about yourself and the world around you. I believe journaling in general is the key to your soul.
Think of your journal as your trusted companion. One that actively listens, never judges, and accepts you as you are. Your journal allows you the space to be yourself and let your guard down.
If you have been a loyal YouTube subscriber of mine, think of Substack as an extension of my channel. You’ll get to dive deep into the mind of a Pisces sun, Sagittarius moon, and Taurus rising woman, so expect a lot of dreamy, philosophical, optimistic, creative, and mindful perspectives. I find so much beauty in my day-to-day life, no matter what I experience, so I hope that my posts inspire you to truly fall in love with your life.
The Blooming Diary embodies what I have gone through over the years of journaling. I started when I was very lost and naive and through the various forms of journaling that I’ve tried, I have documented my spiritual journey, creative ideas, the small yet joyful moments, found beauty in the chaos, and discovered who I was and who I am becoming. I have considered myself a late-bloomer, growing slowly and steadily. Eventually, after all of the deep inner work and having undergone different uncomfortable stages of growth, I’m finally blooming. 🌷🥰
I have so much in store for this new space. I haven’t been this excited in a while! I’ll be sharing my art processes (art journaling, urban sketching, digital art, etc.), creative musings, things that I’m inspired by, random life lessons, occasional in-depth sketchbook and art journal flip-through videos, journal prompts, tips and ideas for art journaling, stationery hauls, and so much more!
So, that is it, friends. If you’ve made it this far, I appreciate you for taking the time out of your day to read my first post. If all of this sounds fun and interesting, subscribe to my Substack! I would love to have you here :)
Much love,
Char
Omg yay!! Fancy seeing you here🥰 I think you’re going to love it on substack. I haven’t truly been on insta or tik tok in months because this app is so fulfilling. And of course I love your you tube as well 💕
